Seiscomp configuration user guide ​

Seiscomp configuration allows to add data that will be available to the users through the Waveform download tool.

Seiscomp configuration ​

To create a Seiscomp connection use the tab Seiscomps (marked with (1) in Fig.1 in Data Center user guide) and choose the Add new seiscomp button (see Fig. 1). Apart from the option to add a new Seiscomp, the view contains also a list of all currently configured Seiscomps with options to View, Edit or Delete them (Fig. 1).

Fig. 1. List of configured Seiscomp serversThe next step is to fill the connection properties - host and a port (the port usually is 18001), DCID, user login and password (see Fig. 2). The last three options are needed for seiscomps that encode the data they provide and have to be supplied from the server administrator. When the properties are filled, use the Connect button to check the connection and proceed to the next configuration step - configuring which stations will be accessible to the users.

Seiscomp configurationAs one Seiscomp server provides data from many stations without assigning them to any episode, this has to be done at the level of the Data Center Seiscomp configuration. For each of the provided stations, an episode may be chosen from a list (see Fig. 3). Additionally, each station may be set visible to only a selected group of users (e.g. related to a project) - this option is configured in the the Download Permission column (Fig. 3) by setting one of the following options:

  • all - the station data will be available to all users
  • researcher - the station data will be available only to the users with researcher status confirmed (see also affiliations section in Quick Start Guide)
  • <project_name> - the station data will be available only to the users which are confirmed members of the project (they have the project affiliation configured as in affiliations section in Quick Start Guide). The available project names can be checked by the user administrators in the EPISODES Platform administration interface, in the Project Management tab.

If no Episode value is provided, or the Download Permission is empty, the station will not be visible to any user.

The example provided in Fig. 3, sets the following configuration:

  • Station KATY will be available for episode CZORSZTYN for all users,
  • Stations GUZI and SGOR will be available for episode LGCD for all users,
  • Stations KANI and PUCH will be available for episode BOGDANKA for users with project affiliation BOIS,
  • Stations KSP and BEL will not be available.
