"The purpose of this study is to evaluate seismic\r\nhazard parameters in connection with the evolution of\r\nmining operations and seismic activity. The time-dependent\r\nhazard parameters to be estimated are activity rate,\r\nGutenberg–Richter b-value, mean return period and\r\nexceedance probability of a prescribed magnitude for\r\nselected time windows related with the advance of the\r\nmining front. Four magnitude distribution estimation\r\nmethods are applied and the results obtained from each one\r\nare compared with each other. Those approaches are\r\nmaximum likelihood using the unbounded and upper\r\nbounded Gutenberg–Richter law and the non-parametric\r\nunbounded and non-parametric upper-bounded kernel\r\nestimation of magnitude distribution. The method is\r\napplied for seismicity occurred in the longwall mining of\r\npanel 3 in coal seam 503 in Bobrek colliery in Upper\r\nSilesia Coal Basin, Poland, during 2009–2010.
