"A team of Japanese researchers, who have a considerable\r\nexperience in the microseismic monitoring of hydraulic\r\nstimulation/circulation of HDR/HWR/HFR reservoirs,\r\nconducted a microseismic monitoring at the Cooper Basin\r\nHDR site, Australia in the last quarter of 2003. A network\r\nof seismic instruments with 4 near surface instruments,\r\nthree downhole instruments and one deep downhole\r\ninstruments was set up by Geodynamics and CRIEPI. The\r\nseismic network detected approximately 32,000 triggers\r\nduring injection of 20,000 m3 of fresh water into granitic\r\nbasement over 3 weeks. The authors located the events on\r\na semi-realtime basis using automatic software for picking,\r\nand the locations were fed back to the pumping side for\r\ndetermination of further injection plan. The locations of\r\nseismic events showed sub-horizontal extension of the\r\nreservoir to 1,800 m away from the injection well at a depth\r\nof around 4,500 m. The heterogeneous source migration\r\nsuggests that the fractures in the stimulated zone were close\r\nto a critically stressed state."^^ . "2005-04" . . "International Geothermal Association"^^ . .
