The project goal is to demonstrate feasibility of stimulating a deep high-temperature reservoir (HTR) (up to 750 oF, 400 oC). Phase I of the EGS Demonstration, Prestimulation, has been completed, which included initial site characterization and well recompletions. Two previously abandoned wells, Prati State 31 (PS-31) and Prati 32 (P-32) were reopened and deepened to be used as an injection and production well pair to stimulate the HTR. The deepened portions of both wells have conductive temperature gradients of 10 oF/100ft (182 oC/km). Phase II of the EGS Demonstration, Stimulation, commenced in October 2011 with injection into P-32. Analysis of preliminary data of the reservoir response to injection is included. date: 2012-02 date_type: published pagerange: 1-11 event_title: Thirty-Seventh Workshop on Geothermal Reservoir Engineering event_location: Stanford california event_dates: January 30 - February 1, 2012 event_type: workshop access_IS-EPOS: limited citation: Garcia, Julio and Walters, Mark and Beall, Joe and Hartline, Craig and Pingol, Al and Pistone, Sarah and Wright, Melinda (2012) OVERVIEW OF THE NORTHWEST GEYSERS EGS DEMONSTRATION PROJECT.
