Y1 - 2004/11/10/ N2 - Mining seismicity is akin to an arti?cial earthquake caused by mining activities. Mining seismicity has a long history in Chinese coal mines, among which Laohutai coal mine in Fushun city, which is located in Liaoning Province northeast of China, is a typical one [1]. Laohutai mine is located at the south edge of Fushun city. Its geographical coordinates are: east longitude 123º54'42''?123º58'17'', north latitude 41º51'07''?41º52'10''. The mine is 4.95 km from east to west and about 2 km from south to north, so the mine area is about 10 km2.
